Paint Industry secrets Part 2
Paint Tribe is back telling the secrets of the painting industry that professionals don’t want you to know.
Today, we are helping you understand the roles and differences in primers
Secret 1: When do you use a solvent based primer and when do you use a water based primer?
Solvent based primers are needed for walls with high lime content like skimmed walls as water based primers will react with the lime and cause peeling.

Secret 2: Why can’t you use a water based paint on a solvent based primer?
The solvent based primer will reject the paint and cause it to peel OR it won’t stick

Secret 3: Why do you need 2 coats of paint on top of your coat of primer?
Your first coat will leave brush marks and and will be patchy so the real finish and colour only comes through with the second coat.
